Definitely the right colorway
Oh, am I loving the Clapotis. Just look at this yarn and color:
Isn’t that just gorgeous? I love this Icehouse colorway. (Btw, I think colorway is a very odd word.)
I finally finished the first section of increases and now get to work on the straight section. I’m not to the row-dropping stage yet, but I’m nervously excited about getting there. I’m sure that my inner (and outer) perfectionist is going to be slightly unnerved by intentionally dropping stitches.
Adelle laughed at me because I took this picture with a bottle of nail polish. I was trying to give an idea of scale and I didn’t have anything else handy that was normal. Remote controls are relative, pens are relative, and my cell phone is tiny. So there you have it. I’ve started an album to keep the Clapotis progress documented … exciting, no?
Clapotis progress
Loving the Lion and Lamb yarn, but I’m still allergic to wool. It’s incredibly soft, so there’s no itch factor, but my eyes and nose itch and I’m congested. Whatever. I will suffer through, persevere, and wear my Clapotis with panache, I’m sure.
It’s just that the colors are so pretty …

I only had straight needles with me when I started. This morning, back in Houston, where half of my knitting supplies are now located, I transferred it to circs and I feel SO much better. Straight needles annoy me now because of the neighbor-poking, awkwardness, and hand strain factors. They also look less threatening to airport personnel. (Yay.) (Also: not a guarantee of your travel experience. Mileage may vary.)
Clapotis Yarn!
After forever and ever — okay, two months — my yarn for Clapotis arrived from DiscountYarnSale.com. I’d ordered it before their site said eight - ten weeks, so I was a little antsy. They were great, though, and ta da! (Also, I think they’re really close to Houston … hmmm.)
Anyway … I decided to splurge and go with the Lion and Lamb yarn, and I went for the Icehouse colorway. It’s a beautiful and soft yarn, and a lot less bulky than I thought it would be.
The yarn … which looks darker in this picture than it really is.

And the cat, wondering if it’s really yarn or if it’s more of the salmon sushi I brought home yesterday.

I’m being good and waiting until I finish the twins’ sweaters before I start on this. When I get back to Dallas tomorrow, though, you better just watch out. Size 8 needles and stitch markers, here I come!
I give!
I caved. I was too tempted by the many pictures of Clapotis and the Lorna’s Laces Lion and Lamb yarn that I’ve seen. I decided that my birthday gift to myself is a splurge on this yarn. Hopefully the silk will be enough of a counter to the wool and I won’t itch to death every time I wear it.
So … Clapotis, here I come. You are going to be knit in Icehouse, especially after I saw these examples of other yarn projects in that color:
