Sock-obsessed
Clearly my mind is not my own. There’s no other reason that I, the girl who can’t keep up with socks, the girl who loses socks, the girl who rips and rips and rips socks … would sign up for another sock swap.
RPM is almost done — just need the toe wrapped up — and my presents for the Hurricane Sock Party have been bought, so of course I need something else to knit for! No pictures just yet because I want to actually get RPM finished before I take another picture .. it’s almost like a jinx or something. Anyway, THANK YOU for the comments and encouragement on it. I’m going to be so thrilled to finish a second sock … even if it’s not the match to the first sock I knit. :-D That’s why this Second Sock Syndrome swap is perfect for me!
The SSS questionnaire is under the cut …
- What are your favorite sock yarns?
I love ArtYarns merino blends, and I’m really enjoying the Socks that Rock yarn. I can use the KnitPicks sock yarns that are merino, and I love really really soft yarns.
- What are your least favorite sock yarns? Anything you just cannot use?
Itchy, scratchy, real wool, especially wool that has . If it’s merino, I can use it. If it’s not, I can’t. Even superwash bothers me after a while. It’s not just the wearing, it’s the knitting with that bothers me. The fibers hurt my eyes and nose, and the lanolin and dust makes me clog up nose and throat-wise.
- What method do you prefer to use (DPN’s, 2 circs, 1 circ, etc.)?
I’m a one-circ knitter. I’m decent at making a DPN pattern convert into a 1 circ and vice versa.
- Is there any method that you cannot use?
I prefer not to use DPNs, but I can adjust if need be.
- What are your favorite colors?
Blues, greens, purples, and garnet/cranberry/scarlet reds. I also like greys and pinks. Pretty much just not orange or yellow!
- Are you a beginner, intermediate, or more advanced sock knitter?
I’d say intermediate. Maybe. Beginner to intermediate.
- Any other info you want to share (such as other likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc)?
Let’s see … I’m getting married in November, and that preparation is taking up a LOT of my time. I love reading (mysteries, especially), I’m slowly getting into the sock knitting thing (I really want the Knitting on the Road book by Nancy Bush now, which shows how far I’ve come), and if I had any spare time I’d love to learn how to start and maintain container gardens on Houston balconies and in Houston apartments that my cat might leave alone. I love gardening and know absolutely nothing about it. Yay!
- What size is your foot (so your partner can create the right size sock)?
I wear a size 7, and here are the fun measurements from the last sock swap:
Heel to toe: 9″ (I think)
The diameter of the ball of my foot, at its widest, is 8″
Thanks, sock swapper!
