Team CPT

Did you know that a crochet hook makes an excellent bloody mary stirrer? It totally does!!

Adelle and I were talking this morning about projects that are a little suspect for the Olympics and how we think some people didn’t quite get the concept of “challenging”. Whatever. I know we’re both competitive biatches, but it still doesn’t make sense to do a one-skein quick knit for the Olympics. Come ON. That’s like Italy showing up for the women’s hockey and getting their asses handed to them by the Canadians, 16 - 0. That’s like Michelle Kwan showing up and expecting to just get a medal for being there.

Please note: any KO knitter who dissolves into tears is going to be labeled a Kwan. Just sayin’.

So, Adelle and I decided there needed to be another team for those of us who maybe are a little too competitive for our own good … Team CPT!!! Love Snoop. Love his philosophy on life.

Hey — my glass is empty. Need more bloody mary. Maybe I should do some knitting, too.

    Hey! Mock not Michelle Kwan!

I’m with my first column writing professor on this subject. (See also this earlier piece.)

I will mock Michelle Kwan if I feel like it. I feel for her, I really do, but these games are not about her, they are not centered around her personal quest for a medal. I’m sorry the Olympics couldn’t be built around her timeline of ups and downs; maybe we should hold the figure skating medal events next year when she might be better? This is just how it works. Every time I see the girl, she’s in tears. I’m not just talking about the last year or the last four years, I’m talking about most of her career. Maybe she’s just highly emotional. Maybe I’m just heartless.

For the record, I couldn’t stand Nancy Kerrigan, either.

I’m not a Kerrigan fan either, for what it’s worth… but, honestly, I’ve never gotten the prima-donna vibe from Kwan; rather the opposite.

I *hate* Nancy Kerrigan. Michelle Kwan on the other hand didn’t bother me all that much, and she didn’t really cry as she pulled out of the Olympics - plus I thought it was good she pulled out and gave someone else a shot. (I think she shouldn’t have fought so hard to get in to begin with, but I can understand why she did it.) She has always seemed like a good sportsman to me.

Nancy Kerrigan though? I want to smack the teeth off her face, she irritates me so much.
