Something for someone
I have, at long last, put aside one of the multiple Clapotis that I’m knitting, and I’ve picked up something else to start. I can’t say what it is or who it’s for because it’s a Christmas present for a web-savvy friend. Let’s just say that it’s a simple lace pattern and is in a 100% merino yarn that’s variegated and oh-so-soft. The yarn was originally intended for socks, but since I have discovered that I hate knitting socks, it’s going to a much better use.
Yes, I HATE knitting socks. I’m not sure why, but the list of knitting things I hate to do runs something like this:
- Sewing side seams
- Weaving in ends
- Knitting socks
- Knitting sleeves
- Neckline decreases
Yes, I would rather knit sleeves than socks. You know why? Because they’re basically the same thing, except sleeves are part of a greater good and socks just end up on their own. Also, I hate wearing wool socks. I don’t really get anything out of knitting socks for myself!
In other news, my wonderful Secret Pal sent me a surprise!!! I now have the Stitch N Bitch Knitting Journal, which is currently tucked in my travel tote bag with Lord Voldemort the Project That Must Not Be Named that I mentioned above. My SP said that she hoped it would help me keep track of all of my knitting while traveling, and she is so right. This was perfect for jotting down the pattern, writing in my stash in Dallas and stash in Houston, and figuring out what to do with it all. Thank you, SP!
I’ve really enjoyed SP5, and I’ve signed up for SP6. I’m going to try to be a better (more attentive) SP this next time and get the surprises out more regularly. My schedule has shot the gift-posting to hell this summer, so my pal is getting one gift late. It’s been a blast, though!
