Triangle shawl

I was in a knitting frenzy this weekend. I’m trying to get some sort of wrap or shawl done to take with me to Ukraine (I leave on the 15th!) and the yarn for Clapotis definitely won’t be in enough in advance. I do, however, have three skeins of Lion Brand Homespun (hush with the “ewww!”, yarn snobs … I’m allergic to wool) that need to be out of my stash and into a project.

I didn’t like most of the poncho or capelet patterns that I could find, so I went looking for shawls instead. I found this triangle shawl pattern at the Lion Brand website. I think it will be without the fringe, thanks so much.

The progress thus far …

Clive models the shawl

Clive, of course, was helping me with all of the knitting I did this weekend.

Shawl with no cat.

I’m liking it quite a bit, actually. I’m using size 15 needles instead of 13 since that’s all I had handy and I wasn’t about to buy another set of size 13 circs — mine are at home in Dallas. I did have to make a spreadsheet to keep track of the rows. The baby sweaters have made me spoiled for row-less knitting!

It’s also interesting to knit because you start from the top center of the shawl and work down. I wasn’t sure how that was going to work since you start with only 5 stitches, but it turns out to be easier than I thought. And hurray for going quickly … I want it done and packed for a week from Friday!

That’s the one I just made! Although I added on an additional 25 rows because I wanted it long and it came out a little small for me. On you, however, it should be just fine.

It’s gorgeous! My sister just made this one for our middle sister in a very deep indigo blue Homespun and I can’t tell you how envious I am. I’m going to get going on one for myself!
