Muddlepie Cutie

I’ve officially started Darci’s blanket … well, I have started it after Clive has thoroughly inspected the yarn to make sure it meets his approval.

Clive inspects Darci's yarn

The beginning of Darci's blanket.

I decided to use the Bernat CottonTots “Very Berry” yarn for this one. It’s very cute, and hopefully not too bright. Actually, the bottom and top of the blanket are a strand of “Very Berry” and “Strawberry” held together, and the body of the blanket is two strands of “Very Berry”. I decided that the Strawberry was too overpowering for an entire blanket.

The colors are blue and muted in this picture since I had to take the picture without the flash so that I could get the detail. Of course, the detail is still hard to see since I’m using this variegated yarn. There’s a garter stitch edging, a pattern of hearts, and then I’ll stockinette stitch the rest of the blanket until there’s another pattern of hearts, then the top border. The original pattern had hearts all the way across the blanket but I decided that would be too busy with (again) this variegated yarn.

It is SO soft and cuddly. I like using this yarn for these blankets! Hopefully it will hold up well …
