Of baby blankets and such.

I finished the blanket for Aaron … another one that, once I sat down with it, took only a couple of weeks.

I’ve decided to make a few changes to these blankets. I love doing baby afghans but I feel that many of the patterns are just too long. I’ve decide to start taking out at least four to five inches of the blanket so that it’s slightly larger than a square. Parents have their hands full with enough when they’re juggling baby and accoutrements.

The last two blankets, Trace and Aaron’s blankets, I’ve made using a smaller size of needle than recommended by the pattern. This helps with the size issue, too.

I’ve been making the blankets from an acrylic yarn — only soft, soft, soft ones, mind — because they’re more durable and still look pretty. I think for the next blanket (Darci) I’m going to try a cotton or cotton blend yarn. It might make a lighterweight blanket for warmer weather.
