And the next one …
Of course, I can’t let my hands stay idle for long. Something about a devil’s playground and all that, I guess. So yesterday afternoon while I sat in bed all day feeling like crap I started the next baby blanket. Seems to be a theme with me.
As for the details … this one is another pattern (Fan Pattern) from the same Jeanette Crews pattern book, Lacy Baby Afghans. These patterns really are as easy as they say. I will warn you, though, that there’s an error printed in the Fan Pattern blanket pattern at row 17 (I think). It says the repeat the pattern until there are 13 stitches left when it should really be 14. I felt quite vindicated since I’ve messed up the count before on blankets.
I’m trying the circular knitting needles for this blanket because I’m tired of the thing getting all bunched up. I think that bunching is affecting my gauge as the blanket gets bigger and I know that it makes my hands cramp. So far this seems to be working pretty well; it’s certainly a lot lighter than even the bamboo needles since the weight is distributed across the needle connector. I guess the most logical next step for afghan knitting and me would be bamboo circular needles. These are really smooth ones, though, so that’s nice. I’m also knitting faster on this one.
The needles are Susan Bates size 8, if you’re interested. I went up a size because I tend to knit a smaller gauge than recommended. Anyway, this one is also Bernat Baby Coordinates yarn.
